Long asymmetric to short graduation

from my recent asymmetric cut, my client decided she wanted the whole cut shorter so I suggested a short graduation with it being a lot shorter at the back. I cut in some layers to give the style body and height. My client loved the cut.

The long asymmetric cut

My client wanted a style thats a little different from her everyday look. With her heart shaped face, we decided to go for an asymmetric cut. We left it longer to complement her face shape. The short side was in line with her jaw and her long side was over directed to sit ontop of her shoulders.

The Balayage...

So this is my first attempt at Balayage, it's not as hard as it looks either! It's a very visual technique, so your applying the product free hand. My lovely client has never had lightener on her hair before so it was a nice change. We decided to start with a nice copper blonde so it's not such a drastic change. She loved it. A few weeks later she decided to a little bit more adventurous. So we lightened it once more for optimum brightness. Once that had been reached and washed off, we used the pure purple from the Affinage colour dynamics. This was the end result. She loved it! A very happy client!

The full head tint...

Today I did a full head of colour with black underneath, and a red horshoe section for the top.
I used SR-R+ and 5RR from Matrix. I mixed 10g of SR-R+ to 30g of the 5RR with 6% peroxide.
Originally she was a 5RR+ in some area's, my client wanted the red to be a little more vibrant but not so it stands out completely, these two colours worked perfectly together to get the desired result.
For the bottom section (which I did first) I used the 2N from Matrix with 3% peroxide. To separate the two colours I put the bottom section in a disposable cap, this is so the colours don't run onto each other. I left it to develop for 35 minutes, then washed and blowdried it straight for a nice sleek finish.

The restyle...

So yesterday at the salon my client wanted a complete restyle. She hadn't had it cut for two years, which left the ends understandably a little dry, but overall the condition was very good due to the fact that my client doesn't colour her hair, use excessive heat, or over wash the hair which was really good.
I really enjoyed doing the cut mainly because there will be such a big change afterwards. Although the hair was in good condition anyway, the hair looks thicker and has a really nice shine to it.

Avant Garde hair show...

In February we are taking part in a hair show for college, we need two different models for two different themes, the themes are Wildlife and Avant Garde. As Avant Garde is very extravagant, I've decided to create something a little like this picture, so creating a "zig zag" effect all over the hair, pinning them up randomly.
I will achieve this by using small sections and spraying them with hair spray before placing them in foil. Once the section is placed on top of a piece of foil I will then spray the hair again before adding a top piece of foil. After that I will fold the bottom part of the foil towards myself and apply the straighteners onto the section, once I've done this I will fold the rest of the foil as if I was creating a "paper fan" so towards you then away from you etc. Once the foil is folded I will apply the straighteners all over the foil and leave to cool down inside the foil. I will do this all over the hair.
When the hair has cooled down I will take them out and pin each section randomly upon the head then give it one final spray to finish off the look.
